The online lectures are organized by class, exactly as in the original syllabus and placed in the respective folder. You should find both mp4 and webm formats: different browsers like different formats (my chrome is fine with either, firefox likes webm, and I think any microsoft browser will only eat mp4). If you have problems try the YouTube version as youtube will automatically deliver what your browser can eat. The usual homework problem list will be updated as usual and should include the youtube links to the videos that are also in the ClassXX folder. Currently homework is not being "collected" but the current plan is, following a zoom meeting on Friday, to "collect" by having you scan to pdf your solution pages (probably using a cell phone app) or by directly writing your solution in Word (or better) app. The zoom meeting included just 9 people, but the basic plan seems to be a "go". However the fact that things seemed to be working for folks who could zoom, doesn't say how things are going for folks who did not zoom. I'll perhaps get a better idea of how folks are keeping up based on the homework from class 26 that "should" be turned in 6pm Monday. A way to do pre-test reviews was suggested: have you all turn in questions which could then be answered either in zoom or asynchronous video. Clearly exams will be "take-homes" also note that lab is not possible, so I'll just use your existing lab average in computing the final grade. The unfortunate fact that the right hand rule plays a big part in these chapters was discussed a bit. I was not real happy with what my hand looked like on zoom, so perhaps a real video (or a link to an existing video) might help. I did a google search and found several. I think I'll schedule another zoom meeting next Friday. The aim would be mostly to learn how things are going for you all, but it could also be a time to answer questions. Also in the ClassXX folder is a pdf of the usual class handout: problems from the textbook. I very much encourage you to print out this page and annotate it as the solutions are discussed in the videos. I believe that stuff you write down will stick in your mind better than just listening to the words. And of course working problems yourself is even better. How things have worked out is there is a "a" video talking mostly about theory and a "b" video mostly about problem solutions. I also intend to create pdf of iQuiz (multiple choice) problems to check your understanding. Pray for a covid-19 free world! Be lonely and wash your hands! tom kirkman
