Star Finder: p. 10

The meridian is an imaginary line that runs from the north point on the horizon through zenith and back down to the south point on the horizon. Note that it includes the point that the star map rotates around. The sky (and the star finder's star map) rotate about the point called the north celestial pole or NCP for short. (Click here for another explanation of these terms, but remember to return Back here.)

Stars that are halfway between rising and setting are on the meridian. A star that is crossing the meridian is said to culminate. (Click here for another explanation of this term, but remember to return Back here.)
