Terms: celestial equator, celestial poles
The SC001 star map is similar to a Mercator projection of the globe. The
celestial equator divides the map in half. The top half includes most of
the north hemisphere, but in doesn't reach as far as the north celestial pole
which is off the top of the map. (We provide you with a SC002 star map
which overlaps the top of this map and goes further
to include the missing northern cap.) Similarly the bottom of the map
doesn't quite reach the south celestial pole (but then the region
missing at the bottom can't be seen from CSB/SJU anyway).
